Jeff Gordon (No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet) led a
race-high 110 laps en route to a fourth-place finish in the Showtime Southern
500. Gordon recovered from a pit road entry mistake on lap 340 of the 367-lap
event to post his 18th top-five finish at Darlington Raceway and advance to
fourth in the series point standings.
