Jeff Gordon (No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet) started
from the fifth position and raced among the top-five early in the Kobalt Tools
500. After battling tire issues and being caught two laps down, Gordon was able
to fight back to an 18th-place finish and advance to 11th in the point
