After avoiding a wreck and battling an ill-handling racecar
for most of the 500-mile event, Jeff Gordon finished 13th at Texas Motor
Speedway. Points leader Jimmie Johnson suffered a 38th-place finish following a
lap 2 wreck, cutting Gordon’s point deficit to 112 with two races remaining in
the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.”
