Gordon (No. 24 DuPont/National Guard Chevrolet) is forced to
the apron of the frontstretch to avoid a scuffle between Jimmie Johnson (No. 48)
and Kurt Busch (No. 2) in the closing laps of the 267-lap event. Gordon finished
second behind winner and teammate Mark Martin, giving Hendrick Motorsports a 1-2
finish and a $1 million bonus for the pair from the race sponsor. Gordon remains
second in the point standings, 175 points behind Tony Stewart.
